BOULDER – In 2005, when the Missoula Raptors emerged onto the scene as an expansion team in Montana, their games with the Helena Titans were the tightest, coming-down-to-the-last-minutest games in the RMFL. Thanks to a smothering Raptor defense and Shane Jurasek and his 5 touchdown passes, the first meeting in 2006 turned into a laugher as the Raptors ran away to a 34-11 victory in Boulder, Montana.
Jurasek had a near perfect day also passing for 279 yards and no interceptions against a Helena defense that was hampered as well by the teams offensive ineffectiveness.
Helena tailback, Keith Deboo, was fairly strong for 94 yards rushing on 20 attempts to keep the team moving, however, the Titans could complete only 5 of 15 passes for 59 yards and just could not get their explosiveness back.
Ironically, the Titans of 2005, lead the RMFL in offense with Shane Jurasek at the helm. With Jurasek in Missoula, the Titans were ranked 7th… of the AA teams, and will likely drop lower.
For the Raptors offense, Gavin Johnson also had a big day, accounting for more than 100 yards from scrimmage and hauling in 2 of the 5 touchdown tosses, including the final two of the second quarter that extended a narrow 7-3 lead to an insurmountable 21-3 halftime lead for the visiting Raptors.
